Cardiorespiratory Assessment
The Cardiorespiratory assessment is essential for two reasons. First, it gives me an overall gauge of your health and ability to exercise under strenuous activity. Secondly, the test helps me accurately monitor your heart rate zones; low, medium and high. When I first started training I could only last 12 minutes on the stress test. Today, my personal high is 25 minutes.
Basically, the test is simple. Set a treadmill to 5.0 mph (for those of you who cannot run please call me). Every three minutes, increase the incline by 2.5%. If you are strong enough to last 18 minutes your treadmill settings will be 5.0 speed and 15.0 incline. From here you just have to stay on as long as you can. Please note that this test should be conducted with the aid and under the supervision of a Certified Personal Trainer.
